I literally just got accepted to UCONN, which I am surprised about, so I thought I’d post my stats so students who are applying in the future can compare and have and idea of the types of students who have gotten accepted.

-1170 SAT (620 Reading, 550 Math)
-Rank: 11/180
- 4 AP classes (2 junior year and 2 senior year)
- 9 honors classes.
-Played field hockey for two years
-I am in NHS both my junior and senior year.
-A school Ambassador, which is a group that helps new students adjust to our school by giving them tours, and picking up/dropping them off to all of their classes.We also represent the school at many community events
-Co-leader of a club called Project Purple
-Many volunteer hours, and in school I work with elementary kids during gym class, and I also work with special needs students in multiple classes.
-Mentored 8th grade students in my junior year (my high school has 8th graders)
-I’ve had a consistent job for 3 years
-A couple of school related awards
Essay topic:
I wrote about my mom who raised me as a single parent, and how I’ve become the person I am today because of her.
(It was better than it sounds)

I applied Regular Decision, and yes I heard back today (about an hour ago to be specific)

I got accepted in the Enviro Sci program
- I’m a female, half hispanic, from Mass, raised by a single dad
- 3.85 GPA (in a top Mass public hs, not sure if that mattered), 1370 (720 CR, 650 Math) SAT
- Rank was like top 40% and I could have done better but had health issues junior year that were explained
- All honors or AP throughout high school (5 APs with a 4 on APUSH and a 4 on Gov’t and Politics)
- Rhode Island College credits
- Strong recc letters and volunteer hours but not a lot of extracurriculars
- Essay: I wrote about when I was little I pushed this kid at the park for being mean to the ducks and kind of evolved it from there to how I always will stand up for what’s right and some personal struggles that were a lot harder than sticking up for the ducks (ie being raised by a single parent, having to move to a new state and be home to watch my sister and that’s why I couldn’t do a lot of extracurriculars, etc)
I also have a low socio-economic status, not sure if it mattered. First generation college student too
