Essay topic:
I wrote about my mom who raised me as a single parent, and how I’ve become the person I am today because of her.
(It was better than it sounds)

Hope this helps!

When did you apply? Did you just hear back today?

I applied Regular Decision, and yes I heard back today (about an hour ago to be specific)

@alexa379 Congratulations! What program did you get into?

  • I’m a female, half hispanic, from Mass, raised by a single dad
  • 3.85 GPA (in a top Mass public hs, not sure if that mattered), 1370 (720 CR, 650 Math) SAT
  • Rank was like top 40% and I could have done better but had health issues junior year that were explained
  • All honors or AP throughout high school (5 APs with a 4 on APUSH and a 4 on Gov’t and Politics)
  • Rhode Island College credits
  • Strong recc letters and volunteer hours but not a lot of extracurriculars
  • Essay: I wrote about when I was little I pushed this kid at the park for being mean to the ducks and kind of evolved it from there to how I always will stand up for what’s right and some personal struggles that were a lot harder than sticking up for the ducks (ie being raised by a single parent, having to move to a new state and be home to watch my sister and that’s why I couldn’t do a lot of extracurriculars, etc)

I also have a low socio-economic status, not sure if it mattered. First generation college student too
