lol I’m just super awkward/ self-conscious and notice these things.
Umm…oh! My dad’s cell rang during the presentation and I had to help him turn it off if you saw that lol.

I really don’t know. I’m completely going back and forth on the whole thing. I would definitely live on campus, but I’m guessing either way I’ll be living in upper-class housing. 18 year olds are…probably about as mature as 21 year olds really. I just don’t want to feel like a geezer. But you know, I’d be a sophomore the other way so I’d still be older. Logically I know 3 years is a tiny age difference. It’s what I get for taking a while to figure my life out lol.

I just looked at the accepted students page on facebook. Ummmm I might take that back about mature 18 year olds…

As for the age difference - D (at MCAD) is 20 and a freshman, 2 of her roommates are 18, the other was 22 I think (she’s a MFA international student). She calls the 18yr olds “the freshman”, even tho she herself is too. I think that’s because they act that way, typical party kids. She’s cleaned the bathroom up a few times, if you know what I mean! A lot of her friends are MFA’s (she calls them “the internationals”) and are a little older. She also has friends among the BFA students, same age as her and younger. But I wouldn’t worry about feeling like the old geezer - you’ll find your set of friends wherever you go.

I guess I was accepted to SVA? They e-mailed me an invitation to accepted students day, but I haven’t gotten anything in the mail. Anticlimactic…

I got accepted into CCA, CalArts, and Art Center for Graphic Design. Though I’m feeling a little heartbroken now because I don’t think I can go to any of them due to financial reasons. I’m hoping I can get into UCLA’s Design|Media Arts program. It won’t be the same as an education at a real art school, but it’s the best I can do with the financial situation I have.

To those who were accepted into RISD: are you (or your son/daughter) going from high school to college or are you (they) transfer students? I’m a transfer student waiting to hear from RISD and I wanted to know if they’d sent out their admittance letters yet.

koella - RISD Admissions has a Facebook page. Last I checked, there were several other transfers asking same question. You might check. The answer may be posted there.

Thanks mom4art and gabbyness. It makes me a little nervous that they send it out so late because I have to let the other schools know by May 1st which gives me very little time to decide everything.

At some schools, I’ve heard. It definitely doesn’t hurt to ask. I was planning on doing that, but now it’s between RISD and MICA which doesn’t require a reply until May 21st.

Congrats jchouston! do you know where you’re going yet?

Just got my financial aid award from MICA. With the scholarship, the tuition is only completely ridiculous instead of insanely ridiculous. So wooo…

Yesterday I got a thick package from RISD which I thought was an acceptance letter/package. Turns out they just sent me a catalog.
Ugh, RISD you tease. It also makes me wonder: why are they sending me a catalog now? Unless it means I didn’t get in and they’re sending a catalog saying “Better luck next year!” >.<
