hey y'all! there doesn't seem to be a thread for students accepted through ED or likely letter, and there's not an accepted students group on facebook (there's the class of 2013 group but to me that's like making a commitment... and i haven't decided where i want to go yet)

Because Dartmouth is bound to the "official" Ivy admissions date of March 31st, they can't admit their top RD prospects early. They circumvent this by sending out letters saying that there is "no doubt" that you will be admitted, or that it is "very likely". The main point of likely letters is to increase yield--it gives the strongest applicants a chance to think more seriously about the school. Other colleges/universities also send out likely letters, but they vary as to who gets them.

Yup I got one too. I'm from Canada, so excited to receive one.
Are your letters personal? Mine didn't seem to be a form letter (ie. some very specific things about my app). Did anyone else suspect that maybe the letters are different for each one of us?

hey I'm Frankie from Miami, Florida. Got my likely letter about two weeks ago. ^_^
I want to study biochemistry/chemistry. I really just want the official letter so I can breathe easier lol

@ dzhang4: my likely letter wasn't personal. props to you for standing out so much. =)

Hey everybody =) I'm Margarita from NY, and I just received my likely letter...Im so excited!!! I'm considering majoring in engineering and Im probably going to the dimensions thing =)
