Accepted through ED.

I wanted to know whether applying to CMU ED makes a considerable difference than applying to CMU RD?

YES!
At least from what I've heard, the ED acceptance rate is like 50%

Ok. Thanks.

But you lose choices. Best if you also have a plan B in place.
Acceptance rate may not be 50% and whatever the number is this year, next year the rate will be lower because of the increasing number of applicants. If, I assume you don't need any FA, you are a foreign student, the above statement may be off.

Could you be more clear? And yes I am an international student who doesn't require FA.

I have a problem with statistics so whenever someone mentions a number or a statistic such as the word "most". "almost never," etc I wonder why.

Since CMU does not offer FA to foreign students, who therefore pay full list, your situation is a bit different from domestic students. There is a good thread within the past week on ED somewhere on CC but essentially it says that if offerred, ED is a binding decision on you. For many Americans, they don't understand that a promise to attend thru ED, is a promise.

Good luck. BTW what do you think of the Dubai CMU program?

Here's the link for +/- ED

If you have the means and this is the school that you want, By all means try the ED route.
