Accepted to Michigan, NOW WHAT

Hi there,

so I've known all along that Michigan was my first choice school, and luckily I was accepted!

That being said, I know I want to be involved in business when I grow up, and I plan on pursuing a MBA. So, should I take advantage of Michigan's amazing business school as an undergrad, or study Economics and Math, which I am also interested in as an undergrad, and go to business school after?

Thoughts?

if you can get into the b school...i would go.

My mom went to Ross undergrad and got her MBA later, and she said it was really redundant. I would encourage you to Major in Econ and Math and to get your MBA later. That liberal arts background is really important!

Did you apply prefer admit to Ross??

I would major in Econ. Many of the students who did not get into Ross are thankful because they did not have as much busy work and have higher GPA's than those in Ross. Econ majors have access to the exact jobs as Ross students and many companies do want liberal arts backrounds! Good Luck with your decision.

when do we pick our majors when we get accepted into LSA? i put pre-business and economics on my online app. but on wolverine access, it says LSA Un-declared. help

Winston, you better call Michigan and make sure.

Actually mine says that too. As soon as I know I am going to UM, I will call them.

pretty much everyone's major is undeclared until they sign the paperwork with their advisor. this goes for minors as well. i asked an advisor about this awhile ago. but you can still take whatever classes in the LSA course guide.

Thanks so much for the advice you guys.

BryanM i did not apply preferred admit, so i would apply sophomore year just like everyone else.

I heard that a high GPA is very importnat when applying to grad schools so NanZ i suppose you are right that economics is the more viable option

thanks again guys

If you intend on getting a MBA later on, I recommend majoring in Economics or Mathematics. I never liked the idea of a BBA. Michigan's program is awesome, but I still prefer majoring in a traditional field.
