So I was matched with Stanford via questbridge, and I'm planning on attending. Little does Stanford know, I have 2 B's (one in Spanish and one in AP Gov).

What GPA must I maintain to keep my acceptance? I know that I should strive for perfect [I have 1.5 months b4 semester report], but a definite number would be nice.

First of all, I’d like to offer you my deepest congratulations. Getting into Stanford is an extraordinary honor, and seeing your profile, you truly deserved it.

To answer your question, only extreme cases such as receiving D’s really ever result in rescinded acceptances. Keep your chin up and strive for the highest grades you can manage, but there is no real need to stress over losing your acceptance unless something drastic takes place. B’s are still wonderful grades and nothing to worry about, though certainly it is great to aim for A’s.

Congratulations again, and I hope for the privilege of joining you in the class of '14!

What about not taking the AP exams? Stanford doesn’t offer any recognition for the AP classes I’m taking this year. I also don’t have the $430 laying around (obviously, I was a QB Match after all) and there’s really no point in my taking them; I’ll definitely get an A or high B at worst anyway. Do you think they’d care for some reason?

Call an academic advisor. My understanding is they only transfer AP Calc and AP Physics. Therefore, I would presume taking the exams is not necessary, but you would be wise to verify.

Good advice. QuestBridge Matchees were given a direct point of contact. I’ll call them once I receive my official package in the mail (since I may have more questions then). I’m not taking AP Calculus OR AP Physics (thank god).

I actually wondered the same thing, and planned that if I should be accepted, I would contact them and ask whether or not I should cancel my plans to take any AP exams they don’t accept. I think if that is something you are considering, you should certainly contact them. After all, the only real point of paying for and taking AP exams is to receive college credit. I can’t imagine it would be a problem (though your school may still require you to take the exam if you’re taking the class).

They would not care if you take the AP exams. Obviously, they do not value the results too much… But do your best to keep your grades up (though I am sure 2 Bs will not be an issue)

ya grades after being admitted aren’t a problem unless you go from a nearly all As student to a straight C student or worse. nevertheless, a year never goes by without someone having their admission revoked because of this kind of thing.

I talked to Tania, a Stanford admissions director, and she notified me about mid and final reports. To quote her:

“As for your question, yes, we want to make sure you keep your grades up as best as possible. We don’t have a specific GPA that we want you to keep, but what we don’t want to see is all your grades slip. A “B” here and there is fine, but if we start seeing a consistent pattern, or worse – a trickle of Cs or below, then we will need to have a conversation.”

Any further insight into this? I’m scared that I may end up with 2 or 3 “B’s” at the moment because my English, Spanish and Gov teachers seem out to get me. I know I will work to make them all “A’s”. AHHHHHHH! I’m just paranoid. The opportunity is so awesome, and I don’t want to lose it. I have so much pride for Stanford and I’m not even attending :).
