I've been accepted to UCSD in Marshall as a transfer. I applied as a Philosophy major, but I would also like to double major in Urban Planning. Does anyone know if it'll be difficult to declare a double major in Urban Planning? Also, I would like know about the program more, aside of what the program's website states. If you guys can give me any feedback, please, let me know.

@predicthisflick: As a transfer student, it really depends if you have taken any classes before you transfer to fulfill the requirements for the USP major. if you haven’t: [UCSD Urban Studies and Planning](http://usp.ucsd.edu/curriculum/finishin4.html), then it’s going to be harder for you to double major because that means you need to take all those classes on top on your philosophy classes. Sorry I can’t give you any insight about the major because I’m not a USP major.

I appreciate the reply. I’ve checked the pre-req courses for this major and there is only one, which is statistics, and I have completed it. Other than that there is only 3 lower division courses I need to take for it. I’ve completed the philosophy lower division courses already, so I won’t have to take any of those.

What you could do is that you can take the 3 lower division courses over the summer and by fall, you can start taking upper division classes for USP!

It would be 12 courses in total for philosophy major and 15 for USP, which is a total of 27 courses, and it says I would have to finish in 9 quarters, so I think it works out perfectly. Unfortunately, I can’t do the courses in the summer, because financial aid does not start until fall quarter… Either way, I really want to submit my SIR, but I just want conformation that this is going to work out, so I might just call both departments sometime this week.

You know you can apply for financial aid in the summer right? [Summer Session - UCSD Students - Tuition & Fees](http://summersession.ucsd.edu/UCSD-Students/students-tuition.shtml#finaid)
You can start applying for the summer session like April 2nd.

You’ve been a great deal of help. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I hope everyone at UCSD is as friendly as you are!
