Accepted to UGS?

I applied as an OOS applicant and was accepted for an undeclared major to the school of undergraduate studies. I was really hoping to get into McCombs or Cockrell even though I was planning on transferring to a ChemE major anyways. I'm really unsure now if I should take the risk of going to UT without even knowing what will happen, but UT is my top choice and I really want to go there. So here are the questions I have now:

What majors do students usually change to at summer orientation?

How hard would it be for me to transfer into ChemE at summer orientation?

How much more difficult is it to internally transfer or change majors at summer orientation if one is an OOS applicant?

How do ChemE programs at UIUC, Purdue, Lehigh, Villanova, and UF compare to UT's ChemE program?

How have past and even current OOS applicants who were undeclared deal with/are dealing with this situation?

If you were in my position, what would you do - go with UT and take the risk of not getting into ChemE or go to one of the above-mentioned schools for a guaranteed ChemE major (assuming I get into them)?

I am in the same situation. I am OOS and applied to mccombs - accountingg, but got in as undeclared. I have seen on other threads that it is a tough road, and you need a 3.7 UT Austin GPA for an internal transfer to McCombs. Considering the non-resident tuition and the pressure to maintain the GPA, I don’t think it is worth the risk - for me. I am from California and already have acceptance to UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly SLO and am still waiting to hear from UCLA, UC San Diego and Berkeley - among others. I know Cali has its problems, but I love it here. I know it’s a great opportunity, but I think I need to be more sure of it.

You are asking all the right questions, so if anyone is going to succeed, it will be you.

Thanks magnaapp. I really wish things would work out with UT but it looks like I’ll be going to UIUC next year…still an amazing school so I have nothing to complain about.
