yay for viterbi

do all of these acceptances signify scholarship recipients only? CONGRATS EVERYONE!

From what I remember from last year, yes, if you receive your letter early, you are a scholarship candidate. In a week or so, you should get a second letter stating which scholarship you are being considered for, with information on interview dates etc. Congratulations to you all (btw, isn't the red folder/certificate incredible? :)), and if you guys have any questions about the interview process or Explore USC, feel free to PM me.

Yeah, the red folder is incredible. Mine started falling apart in the envelope, though! Even as I was pulling it out the glue was coming apart. I didn't much care, though, given as how they accepted me and all.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted! And to those that haven't heard yet, keep holding on! :)

Anyone got into Anneberg? :)

Congrats To All.....best Of Luck For The Scholarships

Annn & takeme2cali,

did any of you send writing samples to annenberg?

yeah my friend got into CLAS yesterday. at least three people from my school got scholarships. it's so weird, because the three of us have almost identical SAT, GPA (we're ranked 15, 16, 17 in a class of 600), we're in ASB together, and we all have the same job. the only difference between the three of us is that i act, the other guy sings, and the girl does journalism and we all play different sports.

if you guys got in, can you type accepted next to your name in this thread

Congrats to all those accepted. I was accepted in the first wave last year... It does mean you are being considered for a scholarship, possibly the trustee or presidential. Last year we found the site and logged in and found out if we were up for the trustee or presidential. You'll get to go down to USC and they'll pamper you and such. You also will have the interview. There should be a few more batches of scholarship interview acceptances. Good luck. PM me if you have any questions about the interview or the weekend down at SC. I had fun, but in the end I chose Duke over the presidential scholarship/honors program/global leadership seminar for the Marshall School of Business.

Btw I had a 2160 on the SAT at the time (brought it up to 2270), 31 ACT, some SAT II's, 4.0 uw gpa, full ib courseload, student government, study abroad, etc.

AH! I hate living abroad... get my mail weeks later. :( What's this RSVP thing? I didn't get that letter, lol.

Congrats to all of you who got in!

I am riding on clouds right now.
I got home at one last night and as I was taking off my shoes, I saw an eight-by-eleven envelope from USC bearing a red "Priority Mail" stamp.
That red packet was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen on the shoecase.
OH MY LORD I AM SO GLAD!!!

**Note: The program I got into was the Resident Honors Program, so if I don't have multiple SAT IIs or other things, it's because I am currently a junior.
SAT Is: 2370
SAT IIs: Math 2C 800
GPA: 4.7 weighted, 4.0 unweighted
Rank: n/a
Major: I applied as International Relations, but I'm switching to Architechture (I emailed the architecture department to learn how I could do this without a freshman portfolio.)
Extracurricular Activities: school newspaper (features editor), chamber music club (co-president and founder), flute and piano, 3 orchestras, hospital music volunteering, Latin Club, Girl Scouts
Awards: A variety, but mostly Latin and music. I got several first place awards at the state Junior Classical League Convention, and was the top individual in my level one year. Music-wise, I've gotten awards at Bach Festival and Southwestern Music Youth Festival and Certificate of Merit...just run-of-the-mill stuff, mostly. And I received the department award for European History AP, which is given to two out of six hundred sophomores annually.
Self-Evaluation of Essays: Um...good? Actually, what I did was VERY ill-advised--I didn't start my essay until the weekend it was due and then there was only time to self-edit. So, to anyone applying, I would suggest starting at least a month in advance! My essay topic was "describe a passion," and I chose writing. For me it was a risk because I don't have anything to show for my passion, such as awards or publications; however, I guess it worked because I got really into writing my essay.
Self-Evaluation of Recs: I chose teachers who liked me.
Hook, if any: Probably my SAT score. I think it canceled out my relatively easy course load (I attend a crazy asian-dominated school where a lot of people take four honors classes their freshman year and two APs their sophomore year; I had three and one, respectively.) And maybe Latin awards.

Congrats to everyone who got in. Good luck to those who are still waiting. :)

ok so five people from my school have gotten scholarships so far. anybody else have alot of people from their school?

wow....bluebeard do you go to some crazy school with a lot of awesome people or something?

wow, i hope USC will give me scholarships.
