I got rejected from their University Scholars Program, which was the main reason why I applied.
But I still got accepted to Washington University and am still considering it. I know its a great school with a beautiful campus. Plus, it'll be easier for my mom if I go, since she might be getting a job in st. louis next year.
I have done some research, and am probably going to Multicultural to visit.

Should I seriously consider enrolling with WashU? I have some public schools in mind, mostly UC's. And those would be cheaper, and I'm sure I would be very happy there.

But even though I got rejected from USP, the more I read about Washington, the more I can see myself there.

Also, considering I got accepted to Washington U, what are my chances with HYSP? Still waiting on those decisions....

*Edit: Applied with Engineering major. Waitlisted from CalTech, still waiting for decisions from MIT.

Idk if this will help, but I'm a current student and I absolutely love WashU. Although you didn't get into USP, WashU still has some amazing resources. We have a great career center and you have a ton of advisors as far as getting into a graduate/professional degree program once you graduate. And there are career fairs on campus as well to help you get internships or even a job when you get out if that's what you decide. Also, I would definitely recommend coming out for multicultural weekend. There will be a lot of neat events on campus and you will probably get a pretty good feel for WashU while you're there. And as far as waiting on acceptance letters from HYSP, I would say your chances of getting into at least a couple of them are pretty good. There are plenty of current students who turned down the Ivies to go to WashU, myself included. Anyway, good luck in making your decision! It sounds like you'll probably have a lot of great schools to choose from!

Thanks sparkle28swim,
Its always great to talk to current students.
Yeah I've been reading a lot about Wash U and am really looking forward to multicultural weekend! I think after visiting the campus (especially an out-of-state campus), I will be able to make a much more informed decision.

One question: I was born and raised in California, and very used to being close to everything. Is there a lot to DO in St. Louis? To me, it seems very out-there. I know the campus is great, but what about the city?

The city of St. Louis is not extremely exciting. But, it's not like being the middle of nowhere. The public transportation system - the metro-can get you around to a few neat attractions- the arch, the cardinals stadium, the mall, st. louis university (fun if you have friends there). Also, about a ten or fifteen minute walk from campus is the loop (there is a bus from campus that drops off there too). The loop has a variety of restaurants, shops, a movie theatre, a concert hall (the pageant), even a bowling alley. WashU is also very close to Forest Park which has golfing, a zoo, an outdoor theatre, a track for bikes/runners, a small lake for paddleboating, an art museum, and some pretty waterfalls lol. So while it is not new york city, it does have enough to keep you entertained i think. Also, there is always something to do on campus- theatre productions, a capella concerts, karaoke, and clubs and greek life are always doing something interesting. Hope that helps!

East St. Louis has an exciting night life.

Yeah, if you want to get shot. East St. Louis is pretty dangerous and I would advise not going there. Once you cross the river over into Illinois, things get pretty sketchy. If you stay away from there, you'll be fine. Plus, there really isn't anything over there worth going to.
