Hello!
I wanted to start a thread specifically for students starting in the Fall 2015. I know there is a massive Class of 2018 thread but that the Drexel page overall seem kind of dead so I figured I would get things going again. Feel free to introduce yourselves! Put where you are from, what you are studying, why you picked to either reserve a spot at Drexel or attend Drexel, what about Drexel has you excited for school next year? Maybe if you are visiting the campus, when you are doing that. I’ll start!
I am from College Station, Texas and I was accepted to pursue a Mechanical Engineering Degree (5 year co op) as my second bachelor’s degree (I am 25 years old). I am pumped about being back in an urban setting at a smaller campus than Texas A&M University. I will be trying out for the men’s club soccer team or volunteering as a student assistant for the Division I soccer team (haven’t decided which yet). I am not formally decided yet, I have reserved my spot though. I am leaning heavily towards Drexel though. The co op program at Drexel is just too much to pass up. I will be visiting in May 14-16.
Son accepted for Mechanical Engineering but unfortunately I don’t think he will be going. Drexel’s financial aid package leaves us with a bill that’s $15K/year higher than any other school to which he’s been accepted.
I can’t blame y’all for that. That is a huge difference…Good luck to him!
I had been accepted and got some scholarship. I wanted to ask for more, since Drexel’s tuition is pretty high and rising, but a Drexel counselor told me that Drexel is not accepting financial aid appeals. Do any other applicants have the same problem?
Does anyone know when Drexel allows you to make any changes to your major? I was already accepted for cs, but would I be allowed to change it to cs with a game design focus or is that unlikely?
You would have to talk to your adviser, but if you are staying in the CS program and shifting focuses and haven’t even started taking courses yet, I bet you’ll be fine. The only trick is if there are differing requirements like you had to have had a 3.0 to be in cs but a 3.5 to be in the game design focus (which I doubt is the case). I bet you won’t have trouble with the switch. Just let your adviser know as soon as you know that is for sure what you want to do.
