I've been accepted as a transfer 2 weeks ago, and am waiting for my credit evaluation.

Then I see this on the Rutgers site

"Well take a look at your transcripts and conduct a credit evaluation, usually after you have been admitted and have confirmed your intention to enroll. "

So does this mean I have to confirm I'm going to Rutgers before they will evaluate my credits?!?

It is crucial for me to know whether I'm looking at 2 or 3 years to graduation. If it is 3 years, I'm going to one of the other schools I was accepted to.

Unfortunately I don’t think they do it until you enroll and it takes a while to get the evaluation in the mail. I think I got mine sometime in May last year. To them I’m sure it would be a waste of time to do it for everyone before they even enroll.

Are you coming from a NJ CC? If so you can use njtransfer.org

Depending on the classes you took, they are fairly flexible about allowing you to fight decisions. Are you afraid you’ll have issues with a lot of your classes?

Yeah, I was just wondering since Drexel and Widerner sent me a credit evaluation about two weeks after. I have my AS in Engineering Science and come from an NJ CC. I don’t like the NJtransfer site because for engineering, it is very ambiguous and has different names for classes, so I can’t really tell what transfers other than a couple of things. For example, I’ve taken calc1,2,and 3 and the site says it wants multivariable calc…or I’ve taken Calc based Physics 1 and 2, but the site says I need analytical physics.

I worked hard getting straight A’s in all these classes and just don’t want to be wasting money and time to take similar classes again because they don’t transfer.
Rutgers is a great school, and I just really need to know some stuff before I can commit. I called admissions and they told me to email someone.

I got into NB-School of Engineering and NB-School of Arts and Science. I applied in Jan. I was accepted around feb 11. I had a 3.8.

Since you have an idea of which classes may be a problem, you shouldn’t have trouble getting help from someone. Contacting someone in the engineering school directly may be helpful!

I’m hoping to transfer into the nursing program and after speaking with them and explaining one of my classes (a computer class that wouldn’t transfer), they assured me that it was fine and fulfilled the requirement. If I hadn’t spoken to them, I would have had to retake the class at Rutgers.

At most you’d probably have to bring in syllabi of the courses and fill out a form, but they aren’t that difficult if you talk to someone about it.

I applied and had everything in before the application deadline.
Yeah, I’m definately going to talk to someone…because according to NJtransfer, about 1 year of stuff transfers which is pretty crazy.

So hopefully this will help you a little bit. I just transferred to Rutgers NB this semester (spring) from CC. Sometime around the end of December I received my credit evaluation of everything up until the fall semester. They only just now evaluated the fall for me (takes awhile.) If you mind me asking what CC did you go to? Theres something called the Lampitt Law where if you receive a degree from a njcc they have to take all your credits so you don’t have to retake any gen-ed courses… the classes you took however have to fulfill a certain rubric., its something along the lines of 2 humanities, 2 social sciences…and so on…I would look into that.

Also on the credit evaluation if they can’t determine it they tell you to bring a syllabus to the STAR day (transfer orientation) or to the academic department. BUT this all happened after I accepted to attend RU.

So I guess what I’m saying is look into the Lampitt Law and see if you fulfill all of the requirements because if you do than you don’t need to retake any gen-ed courses and thus your a Junior and you take all of your core major classes. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I go to Gloucester County College. I studied NJ Transfer and the Electrical Engineerng Course Guide and am looking at either 3 years at Rutgers or 2 and a half if I’m lucky.
I’m between Rutgers and Drexel at the moment…With scholarships, they both cost the same, but if Drexel is also saying more than two years, I’ll take my chances with Rutgers.
