Hello CC peeps,
This is my first ever post so I wasn’t sure whether to put it in “College Admissions” or here, but if there’s a section where this is better suited, let me know!
I got accepted to UCR for this coming fall. As you may know, there are requirements such as having a C or better for “senior” classes (I am a California community college student). This last year has been my worst and this last semester, I got a B, F, and withdrew a class.
I have already contacted UCR Admissions as instructed and was given a (seemingly) automatic response that:
-A D/F grade will result in additional review and possible rejection
-A D/F grade in a mandatory course will result in rejection (not applicable to me)
-My Admissions Counselor will follow up with me
I was accepted with a 2.41 (though my GPA is 2.6 at community college; some courses aren’t transferable) and UCR has a 2.4 requirement. My major is sociology.
So, my questions are:
-What are my chances?
-Have you or anyone you know faced this dilemma? What happened?
P.S. I have been lurking here now and then and am well aware of snarky and insulting posts as to why GPAs are so low, why people haven’t tried harder, etc. I would appreciate sound advice. Thanks!
