Accepted!

I got a letter in the mail today detailing my acceptance. It told me that I was finding out "Ahead of the Crowd."
It might be because they're having some event in D.C (Near where I live) that I was invited to.
Anyways, best of luck to the rest of you.

Can you post your intended major, GPA, SAT/ACT, ECs, etc?
Congrats!!!

From what I remember, a 1920 SAT, 3.8 weighted GPA, 4.4 unweighted. Lots of extracurriculars. My major was “Undecided.” The letter says that they’re having an admissions reception in Washington D.C. I live in Charles County Maryland which is like 40 minutes away. The letter mentions the March 23rd date as the day they’re going to notify ALL FRESHMAN APPLICANTS, but that I was informed early so that I could attend the reception.

Aww i got a letter like that but for UCSB… where is UCLA hiding :(

Oh okay. Thanks!

Do they not do this for California kids? ):

Your stats certainly don’t put you “ahead of the crowd”, but… congratulations !!

spoke to UCLA admissions yesterday following up on some test scores and the lady told me that “all decisions have been made for a few days now”…

Out of staters pay the bills right?

its easy to blame rejections on out of staters… but without them paying the bills us residents may not even have a school to apply to.

congrats OP, you worked hard and deserve it!

It seems like most of the people who have heard already put undecided as their major.

lol 3.8 weighted, 4.4 unweighted, huh?

since decisions have been made for a few days now why can’t they just release them! Why the agonizing wait?!!!

Framed: You can sit down. I wasn’t saying they did. I acknowledged that I received the letter because of the reception, so why was it worth pointing out? cough sour grapes cough
Dustinthewind: Thank you!
Drone 713: I mistyped that, it should be the opposite…

i got the letter too! except the reception for me will be Mar 27 in NYC (i live in central jersey)

i felt so paranoid when i got it because it was just a plain, thin envelope hahah

is anybody going to the NY reception? :)

btw for everyone else, as far as i can tell all admitted students will be able to go (so people who find out Mar 23 too!) and it’s gonna be a talk by some admissions person plus a bunch of nearby UCLA alums, and then dinner and mingling.

not sure i’m going but it feels nice to be accepted, i was so not expecting an early admit anywhere.

Congrats!!! I’d be so happy if I was you!

That’s awesome! But wouldn’t your UNweighted be a 3.8 and your weighted a 4.4?

hahahah i got the letter, too  NYC meetup march 27th!

but, i also got into stanford EA… so, we’ll see :)

Do you have any hooks? Such as being a URM? Or a first in your family to attend college? Or something like that?

Your SAT score, while certainly decent, seems surprisingly low to get admitted as an out of state applicant. I thought getting into UCLA as an out of stater was almost impossible.

My son is applying to UCLA from out of state too, so I have a reason for asking.

My son has a much higher SAT, yet I have been presuming that he probably won’t be accepted. His ECs are probably not as good as yours though, from what you say.

Actually, I’ve been told the reason why so many out-of-state students are applying to UCLA is because of the decreased out-of-state expectation and significant incease in out-of-state acceptance likeliness. I had a 3.89 unweighted GPA and 2080 SAT I, yet I’ve been told not to sweat over my UCLA application since it is public. Plus, where you go to school (location and success and diversity) are quite important in judging the “average” applicant.
