Accepted

I have been on the edge of my seat since my portal changed on Friday, Dec 18th. I just checked the mail and there’s still nothing from them. Quinnipiac is my top pick! I wish they would send the decisions via email. Now I’m worried my decision will be lost in the mail!!!

My portal changed on Thursday. And I got my letter accepted into the Occupational Therapy With a 19k Dean Scholarship!!! Beyond happy right now!!!

My daughter was accepted to Quinnipiac in the nursing program. We are so thrilled and excited! Congrats to all as well, I heard they had a record number of applicants, 17,000! Wow!

My D was accepted to the nursing program about 2 weeks ago. She applied early October. She had a 95.3 GPA unweighted. 13th In a class of 280. Mostly AP and honors courses. Varsity sport lots of extra C’s two honor societies. She got the highest academic scholarship. Q is tied for her number 1. The campus is beautiful and state of the art facilities especially the medical building.;;;

That’s fantastic @futurenursemom1 ! What do you like about Quinnipiac? My daughter and I will visit during spring break this year for the first time to check it out after being admitted. Would love to hear why it is her number 1! My daughter was accepted to quite a few nursing programs in various colleges so we need to see what the best fit will be and any advice is welcome!

Binghamton is her first choice but it is crazy competitive and they don’t take many nursing students. That is a state school so obviously the base tuition is cheaper. Quinnipiac is pretty much tied for first. We loved the dorms they were spacious and clean. It didn’t feel like you were living in a cement cube. All the facilities were clean, bright and updated. You felt like the tuition money was going back into the school. The thing that really sold her was the North Haven campus where the nursing program is. We like the holistic approach where the whole patient is taken care of not just the illness. We liked how the different majors will interact like in a real hospital. The facilities were the best we saw. The SIMS lab area was top notch and very realistic. And it may sound weird but my D found the cadaver lab very interesting. Everyone was nice and it seems they do everything to help their students succeed. She also so far also got into St John Fisher and Hartwick. She is waiting to hear from Nazereth, Bing and Stony Brook. What other Nursing schools did your D get into?

That’s really great info! Thanks so much for sharing. My D got into U of Portland, Fairfield U, Penn State, UMass Lowell honor program, and College of St. Benedicts for direct entry scholarships for many. She got into a few more colleges for pre-nursing but we are probably taking them off the table. She will be OOS for all of these colleges. I think Quinn is high on her list, but we will be visiting the East coast schools in March/April to determine what is the best fit. She is waiting to hear from a few others, we decided to apply to lots due to the competition, but maybe now we applied to too many. @futurenursemom1

Congratulations all on your acceptances! You’ve probably seen my posts on QU and other threads around CC, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask or PM me. My D is a sophomore nursing student at QU and she LOVES it. Quality program and smart kids in the med programs. She’s an honors student, in a sorority and has done a bunch of other activities. She chose QU over several other direct nursing programs that she was accepted to at the time. We have been very pleased with the professionalism of all departments and professors to date.

@cakeisgreat what does the honors program consist of? Does she find if difficult to balance the honors with her nursing curriculum?

@jamieh the honors program turned out to be a great starting point for D to get acclimated into a group and feel like she “belonged.” It is a very chill program where students take honors courses which are not too much more difficult than the regular courses. They also have the option to take learning experience day trips in place of the courses for credit. They go to NYC exhibitions and other interesting places to gain knowledge. She has been able to take all of her honors classes by the end of sophomore year except for the senior capstone, which they assured her that they will help her to incorporate it with her nursing classes. It has not been overwhelming but very enhancing to her college experience. The students in the honors program seem very nice, intelligent, and interesting, and she is still friends with many of them. The older students were very accepting to the freshman class, and they are assigned a mentor. They want to give back as they get older.

I can’t think of any negatives to the program. It was awesome! Hope that helps!

@cakeisgreat thanks so much! That was really helpful. I’ll definitely give some more thought to the honors program.

Once your status changes to “in review” about how long until a decision is made?

Mine took about a month, I believe. Maybe a little longer. @collegenerd9224

I did apply at a very busy time though, in November.

I got accepted into the Ofcupational Therapy program! 3.7 (ish) gpa and 1780 SAT

My status changed to decision made. Can’t wait to get my decision.

(Nursing major)
Accepted into Duquesne, York, UMassL, and Quinnipiac with scholarships and direct entry from all of them! Waiting on two more schools. The college application process/waiting for a response is exhausting, I’m excited that it’ll come to an end soon

Congrats @teiluuuj exciting news! Do you have any favorites?

@netter11 Quinnipiac and Duquesne are really up there for me. Out of all the schools on my list, it seems that quinnipiac has the strongest nursing program, so I’m so happy I got in!

My only concern in the lack of diversity. It’s an overwhelming white school, which I have no issue with (I can get along with anyone) but I have no idea how people will treat me there/if I’ll fit in.

Hi I’ve been accepted into quinnipiac but when I received my acceptance letter I didnt received any scholarships on my paper, i got into radiological sciences, I wanted to know why this happened thank you

@SamSm22 Congratulations on your acceptance! I would contact Admissions directly to ask if any scholarship was given. My DS1 was accepted (a few years ago), but not offered any scholarship. I do not think they offer all students scholarships.

Again, a quick call to Admissions will give you your answer.
