jan. 2008 is the beginning of spring semester. The have fall semester, which begins when schools does and lasts until winter break and then spring semester which starts when winter break is over and lasts till the end of the year.

Yea, Jan enrollmnt and spring semester are the same thing..

No financial aid for me, unfortunately, and $51,000 a year is just too much to shell out for undergrad...

"Upper" grad too....lol, anyway, yes, that is a bit extreme......Sad thing is that many with such overpriced educations barely crack the 6-figure barrier, in terms of earnings....Sad, sad...In the end, college is only designed to teach someone how to 'earn a living', but, in reality, college can't teach one that. A person has to have a high-level of pride and focus on what he/she is doing....Excessive amounts of pride and focus will make even the poorest, uneducated person a star.

Hi everyone, I'm currently a freshman at the UofR. I was just browsing the forums to get an idea of who our potential Class of 2011 people are like - brings back memories of my college application days =P

Just wanted to congratulate everyone who was accepted to the University of Rochester. I'm sure you have all been graced with many great options but, of course, I hope you choose Rochester. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a pm.

I've been accepted... but I'm a bit wary of their computer science department. It seems to have a large focus on the medical side of things, and offers virtually 0 computer graphics classes (year dependent).

Has anyone else here been accepted and are looking to major in comp sci?

I am an international transfer student and today i got my acceptance letter from UR....they are so kind to also offer me some merit scholarship...hope to see you guys next semester!

@ scraps, have you actually looked at the comp sci program. its not skewed towards medicine at all. infact if it were skewed towards something it would be a combination of vision/robotics/and AI.

As for graphics there are four levels of a graphics course known as Recreceational Graphics, which teaches you graphics in Maya. There are more graphics classes in the Art and Advertising department.

If you have any specific questions about cs drop me a pm.

ah... what i meant by medicine is optics... and yes, i have looked at the comp sci department, and talked to people in it/toured parts of it.

It's great to hear that there are more graphics classes than listed on the cs website... i only saw 2? The thing about the recreational graphics is that those classes, like you said, are engineered to teach Maya, whereas I'm looking towards something like OpenGL.

Thank you!

my fin. aid appeal worked! and i'll def. be attending now :)

Yeah, Congrats to everyone! I'm also a freshman, and I will be a D'lion in the fall in Gilbert...So, if you have any questions, let me know...
