Accepted

DD was accepted! Yippee!

Accepted with Harvey S. Mudd Merit Scholarship (the $10,000/yr)! Yay, happy now :)

Mathson got waitlisted. But at least we didn't have to wait six days for the news!

I got wait listed as well. :( Any idea of how many students they put on the waitlist?

I am extremely disappointed in some of the decisions that the Harvey Mudd admissions office has made this year. In all honesty, they need to get their act together, because they are the weak link of Harvey Mudd College.

Hmm. What do you mean?

Well, I hate financial aid if that means anything...
My mom works 80 hour weeks (doctor), lives in a 1.5 bedroom apartment, just got divorced and she's still paying $46k a year...

I don't really want to mention it on here but I have my reasons. I've always felt that the Mudd admissions staff wasn't up to the level of excellency that the school is. I'm thankful that they accepted me and that I now go here, but now that I'm a member of the Mudd community I feel like I need to call it as it is.

Yay I got my acceptance package in the mail today! Does anybody know what the name of the chemical compound on the front cover is?

OMG
I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!
I totally did not think I was going to because my stats are so low. BUt I actually got accepted. No money, but still!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mud........

I got waitlisted. The mail came twice today for some reason; too bad it didn't bring good news.

Waitlisted as well

Hm...waitlisted by Caltech, waitlisted by HMC...I guess California doesn't like me =)
Or, maybe they are biased against NYC? (MathSon got waitlisted, too) =)

"Yay I got my acceptance package in the mail today! Does anybody know what the name of the chemical compound on the front cover is?"

The compound is actually Clinochlore, a chlorite rock from the phyllosilicate group of minerals. Whatever that means, I don't know. Wikipedia does though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlorite_group

Oh they must have changed it since last year.

Just dropping in to say congrats. If Mudd is right for you and you wind up there, I hope you have the time of your life!

I'm glad to see they're putting personal notes on the acceptances. When we dropped S off for freshman orientation, the (then) director of admissions, Deren Fink, looked at our parent name tags and said, "Oh, you must be X_______'s parents!" It really IS that kind of place....

Good luck to you waitlistees if Mudd is what you want. Some amazing, amazing kids get waitlisted every year... and some get in, just a little later than their classmates. Mudd's a very small place, but that's what makes it Mudd.

Rocket, tiyusufaly, atomic... I've really enjoyed your comments, honesty, and enthusiasm. Thanks for hanging around to share your experiences and opinions. Carry on. :)

S will be moving on after May, but I think he would say that Mudd has been very good to him and for him. I wish that for all of you, too.

Oh. For you moms out there... don't forget to pick up your "I'm a Mudder's Mudder" pin when you visit. I'll be retiring mine soon.

rejected

oh well, my stats are low, i deserved it...but i have always liked mudd

2130 sat

WAITLISTED!!!

Pretty damn impressed considering i f***ed up my essays (I decided to wait until two hours from the deadline to start on them).

If i do get in, I'll be stuck between UC Berkeley and Mudd.

no clinochore is what it was for me. I remember that name now.

(Mg5Al)(AlSi3)O10(OH)8

oddly enough though, its not in hydrate form.

Accepted. : )
I think HMC has the nicest folder of all the ones I've received (granted, not many ; ) ), or the ones I've heard about (same).
Very nice letter, and I really appreciated the personal touch of the comment. : )
$10 000/year scholarship.
Looking forward to seeing everyone (someone? a few?) at the accepted students' weekend. : )
