I just got accepted to Allegheny, with a Trustee Scholarship, via the Leadership Application! It was completely unexpected, considering my guidance counselor told me I probably would get rejected here. I fooled him! Anyway, I am excited!

lasercat, congratulations on your admission and on your scholarship! I wonder why your GC did not think you'd get in. Well, you did surprise him. What was his reaction? What is the leadership application?

Congratulations :)
how'd you hear...email, mail, carrier pigeon, etc.?
I sent my app in a few days ago, so I'm just curious...

the leadership application was basically a standard priority application- no additional essay required, early notification on scholarship and admission.

i got a thin envelope... well, it was not so thin that i thought it was a rejection. it would have been amazing if i heard from a school via carrier pigeon. lmao.

ahh, hope all is well! jpan, good luck with allegheny!

Oh, I would have thought a leadership application was some type of application for a leadership scholarship, LOL. Those thin envelopes without a "your in", or "congratulations" on the outside are scary. Do you need to maintain a 3.0 to keep your Trustee Scholarship, or what is the criteria to keep it? Also, how did you get the leadership application? Was it because you called, or visited the school? Thanks

i am not exactly sure how i received a leadership application? i am on their mailing list though, so maybe that? those thin envelopes are incredibly nerve-wracking. i have been dealing with skinny envelopes since sophomore year and summer writing programs. ugh. they are excruiating. i think there is no set gpa i need to keep up for a trustee scholarship. i do not even know the amount of it yet. in the letter, they said i would find out the amount in a few short weeks. hope all is well!

ahh, so today in the mail, allegheny sent me how much my scholarship offer is... 12,500 a year! whoa. i really want to shove this in my guidance counselor's face. haha. anyway, hope all is well with everyone.

Very nice lasercat! Do you need to maintain a 3.0 to renew it every year?

I got my letter on Christmas Eve, it was a pretty good present, even though it is my safety school, but at least I know I'm definitely going to college now...and I got cake! haha. college acceptances are so exciting.
lasercat, are you going to attend? have you applied anywhere else?

hey jpan! cake plus college acceptance letter = amazing. the first college acceptance i received was right before i left for bowling with my friends... so i screamed when i saw them, we promptly bowled (i won) then headed to wendy's where i enjoyed my frosty float. haha. the cake sounds better. i am not sure if i am going to attend, i never visited allegheny, but i will definately check it out. i think they have a trustee scholars weekend.. they had that last year. i applied to ten other schools, accepted so far at 5 including allegheny, waiting for the other 6. good luck!

yay i just got my acceptance!
northeastern mom, you dont a 3.0 to renew it...all you need to do is be a full-time student at allegheny

Scared, Congratulations! Really, about the merit award! Now that is really excellent news! Thanks for letting me know! Again, Congratulations!

YAY! I just got my acceptance letter along with the trustee scholarship. The skinny envelope made me think it was a rejection letter since my other acceptances were all in 8 x 11 envelopes lol.

im a bit late but congrats scared6378 and bretagne! are either of you going to the trustee scholar weekend?

congrats everyone who got in :D

i applied with the leadership application, just got a notification on the 18th that my application was complete. how long did you guys have to wait to get a response?

Just curious, when were leadership applications sent out, and did you get them because you contacted Allegheny, visited, or for some other reason?

I received an e-mail offering me the leadership application, halfway through November.
I hadn't contacted Allegheny at all before that, they had sent me a few e-mails, the typical "look at our college!" stuff. The e-mail said I had been "chosen", but it didn't say why.
lovelykittycat, it wasn't very long. I sent my application on the 12th of December, and my school stuff probably got there somewhere around the 17th, and I got my letter on Christmas Eve. So really, basically no time at all.
good luck :)

Hey, congrats; were these quick reponses to early apps or regular decision? My son's app went in during December but it was as a reg. decision. Are they doing rolling ad?

i sent mine jan 11th. thanks JPan :)

& i don't know why i got the leadership application... i was on the mailing list, that's all.

Same thing. Allgheny received my stuff around January 8th and I got an acceptance letter like 2 weeks later. The scholarship came about a week after that.
