I didn't get an email either... Huh. I wonder why. They definitely have my email address, and I've been getting all the mail up until now.

Maybe it means we've secretly won an enormous merit scholarship and are awesome. Or we were the 1000th applicants or something and are receiving our decisions in the form of singing telegrams as opposed to boring emails.

At least, that's what I've been hoping.

Did you get the THREE "Opportunities at the University of Chicago" emails? Yeah they made me flip out each time, thinking they were each THE email. I wouldn't worry about the email if you got accepted though, I'm sure there was probably just some kind of glitch in their system or something, plus there's more than one of you.

I got two... Were those major specific for everyone? Because mine were about anthropology and creative writing, which seemed somewhat suspicious given that those are two areas I'm really interested in. Eh. And I wasn't particularly worried. I just really wanted a singing telegram.

I think their system is pretty glitchy at times, but then again, I got my e-mail at 4:15 PM ET, only about 15 minutes after the decision went up (and I checked my decision before I got the e-mail, thanks to CC). XD

Hm, I got mine at EXACTLY 4 pm lol. I'm special :)

I'd just like to say that I really like that Chicago's acceptance letter says "congrats on your accomplishments that have LED UP TO your acceptance, blahblahblah". My UMich acceptance was so arrogrant, it said "congrats on being accepted into one of the best universities in the world, you should feel honored and so special and priviledged!"

A classmate got accepted by email today, she checked her email at school and flipped out.
My friend got accepted into Stanford yesterday.

I, on the other hand, am sitting in front of my computer bombarding my email every 10 minutes to see if my notification came but no word yet. I say to myself that it only serves to increase the dramatic quality of receiving the email but I'm about to die from anxiety.

^Even if you don't get the email, your decision is still up; it has been up since 4 pm yesterday, regardless of whether or not you got the email.

UChicago's acceptance letter was good. I've definitely seen/heard of some pretty arrogant/weird/downright odd acceptance wordings. UChicago's letter made me feel special, though, if only for a few hours.

Can anyone else still not believe that we all really got accepted?? It seems so surreal still, to think that I got into such an awesome school. Such an ego boost for this whole week. :>)

I loved the wording of the letter. It made me love Chicago a little bit more. :]

When my mom read the letter, she was like, "Oh my God, I love this guy" (talking about O'Neill). When one of my teachers read it (I showed it to her online), she highlighted the middle paragraph about the pure joy of learning and was like, "Ah, that is so you."

:>)

i agree completely! the letter was perfect!
my father said it sounded as if it were written to me. i found myself doubting my stats, as petty as that was, so O'Neill's response really struck a chord.
This is such a surreal feeling!

And it's so good!! :D

This is the first college I've heard back from.

At school we have a giant bulletin board with our names and our pictures (for the IB class only lol) and we right where we get accepted underneath our names/pictures.

Mine had been blank for months, while people had been filling theirs with FSU, UCF, USF. I felt nervous, like I was making a mistake for not applying to those schools.

When I got the response from University of Chicago, I screamed. I then started to laugh and cry at the same time.

This is the most amazing thing that has happened to me in a long time.

Of course, I didn't get to write Chicago under my name; someone else did it for me. Creeper. >:[ jkjk

Ah, LightBright, that's horrible that you didn't get to write it there. :>( I would be moderately annoyed by that.

2) Ha ha ha I wish I knew.

4) Now that you're in, what's the likelihood that you'll actually enroll at Chicago? Pretty high. We'll see how RD is going to go
5) Do you have Facebook/Myspace/etc., and would you be interested in contacting other '13ers via these sites to start getting to know them now? For sure. :)
