24,000 applicants (that's insane)

Did they say that in the acceptance letter? Did they say how many places there were?

My son was admitted EA. He just got a nice financial aid package from them, so he will be going. My daughter is a junior there. I don't think she would have gotten in this year!

OOps. double post.

BCMom- it said 24,000 applicants for 2,250 spots on the letter, my guess it that they will accept about 7,000 total...

BC mom - what is the difference between the newton campus and the upper one, i was thinking you would know because of your daughter.. i'm trying to decide where i want to live next year, thanks!

Crazy 242, my daugher dormed at Newton and made wonderful friends there. Almost all of her current roommates and friends dormed at Newton. But she advised my son, who will be a freshman at BC in the fall, to try for Upper. Sometimes the shuttle bus can be very slow, especially during rush hour or in bad weather. Other than that, she liked it there. It's definitely much quieter than Upper. They just redid all the dorms at Newton.

Accepted today Norcal!

1480 730/730/700 top 10% 4.5 GPA

I got accepted to BC today also... i'm nervous though about deciding though, what does everyone else think of the school?

BC mom - is upper the main campus, and do most freshman dorm there?

where else did you get in kryssee

it's pretty weird.. i got into Villanova, Elon, Fordham, Providence, USD and a bunch of safety school (yeah, i applied to 14) but I was very surprised at BC because i have 1120 SAT's and i'm 30th in the class with a 3.8 gpa... I really couldn't believe it, especially when all these amazing people in the 1450's got weight listed..

Yes, crazy, Upper is the main campus. About 60% dorm there, and 40% dorm in Newton.

Even if you have to "settle" for Newton, you probably won't regret it. As I said, my daugter was very happy there. It's a nice close knit campus. In fact my daughter is on spring break right now in Paris; all the kids she's with are kids she knew from Newton. They will probably be her lifelong friends. The shuttle buses go back and forth every 20 minutes until 2:00 a.m. in the morning. My husband and I actually loved the Newton campus; it has a nice, cozy feeling to it. And the food is just as good there, if not better, than the main campus.

crazy, my sister is a junior at BC, and she lived on Newton during her freshman year. She loved Newton and made great friends there, and she says that whatever campus people end up at, by the end of the year they wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Generally, if you ask someone who lived on Newton which to choose, they'll say Newton, and if you ask someone from Upper, they'll say Upper...

BC says they meet 100% of your need as demonstrated by the FAFSA and CSS. Apparently your package is for a total of $18,000, so you would be responsible for paying the balance which would be about $23,000. The scholarship is for $14,000 which you don't have to pay back. $2000 is for works study, which means you will have a job on campus that will pay that much. $2,000 is a loan that you will have to pay back after graduation.
