If I accept the award letter (scholarships, grants, loans) that the college I have been accepted to offered me, does that mean I have to commit to this particular college?

Or can I accept the award letters from every college I was accepted to for now, and then decide which one I will commit to by May 1st?

That’s paying the deposit right? Certain schools ask that you not place a deposit for another school, but if they don’t specify I think once you reserve your place you can potentially enroll at any in August (so long as you eventually tell the other ones no!)

No I am not talking about deposits. The award letter is the money/financial aid the college has offered me if I am to enroll. I am not paying any to them; instead, the college is giving me the money to help my financial decision. Upon my acceptance, they have given me the option of accepting my admission and also accepting the award letter (scholarships, grants, fin. aid).

I know that accepting the admission will enroll me into this particular school, but I was wondering whether accepting the award letter before accepting the admission will commit me to this school as well.

My plan was to accept all the award letters for each school then decide where to enroll later on. Can I do this or will accepting it commit me to a particular school?

Every school has a different policy, you have to read the fine print.

I do not believe accepting awards will ever commit you to a college. In my experience, “accepting” the award often means that you agree that the award offered will be your final award should you intend; you won’t appeal it, ask for more, etc. Personally I have not accepted any awards as I plan to appeal for a little extra money,

Still you just gotta read the find print. Always a good idea to e-mail the finaid office at the schools before signing your soul away.

I initially planned to just wait till I decided then accept the award letter, but then I was pressured by parents to start accepting now lol. Now I’m scared I committed to a school I did not plan on enrolling to.
