Accepting early decision

If I get admitted into early decision but decide to change my mind because I don’t want to go there, can I just not confirm my enrollment and not put any deposit?

NO. The only reason you can decline an ED admit is because the financial aid is insufficient. You should have thought of that first. If that is really an issue then ask the college to move your app to RD.

LOL, no. You are to immediately remove yourself from consideration at any other school. And who is to say that if you for example rejected Dartmouth’s early decision and wanted to go to Yale, that Dartmouth would not contact Yale and tell them what you did. Yale is within their rights to rescind your acceptance for fraud.

No, early decision is binding, if you get admitted you’re required to attend.

If you don’t want to attend, contact admissions ASAP and ask to have your admission moved to the regular decision pool. You have made a binding commitment to attend if accepted. Your GC and school’s credibility would be damaged, and your GC may choose not to cooperate in your apps to other colleges if you pull this stunt.

Didn’t you read the ED agreement you signed? It is a binding commitment. Agree with post above, your best bet may be to contact your guidance counselor and the college’s admissions office see if you can have your application moved to RD.
