Accidentally Applied to Wrong College

I accidentally applied to the college of Arts and Sciences (which requires SATII, which I don't have), when I meant to apply to the college of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Would they let me email them, basically saying, "Whoops, I meant Agricultural and Life" and include the essay for that prompt instead?

I’d call them up/email them, I’m sure you are fine

Never understood how this is possible. You literally have to write an entire essay AND pick a major/concentration to talk about in the essay.

I honestly don’t know anymore than you do about what they’d think but to me I think it looks really bad at this point to have them switch you.

Yeah, did you notice how you were writing your supplement essay for arts and sciences and not agricultural and life sciences? And I agree with nd09, I think it could hurt you if you call Cornell and ask them to switch. Unless your are an extremely strong applicant and expect to get in.

lol its a crazy mistake. 1000 people don’t even pick a college each year! and guess what their acceptance rate is?! 0%… shocker

You probably didn’t really want to go to Cornell that much anyway if you didn’t pay close enough attention to get the school right. I wouldn’t worry about it. Just focus on the school(s) you actually want to attend.

Dude . . . be nice!
You upload the essay then choose the radio button/scroll down and select the college you’re applying to, and could easily make a mistake in that. As long as the essay is good, I doubt this applicant doesn’t care about Cornell.

But yes, call immediately and try and have it changed. I’m sure it’ll work out - and it’s not very hard to do .

Haha, guys, let me explain:

I was originally going to apply to Agriculture and Life because I want to be a veterinarian, and I checked the requirements and they didn’t require SATII’s (which I don’t have), and I was all set to write the essay for that one when my dad threw a huge fit about how Arts and Science would be better and made me change at the last minute. Neither of us checked (a stupid, stupid mistake, I know) if Arts and Sciences required SATIIs when Agriculutre and Life didn’t, and I wrote the essay for that one and submitted it.

So then yesterday we realized our mistake… whoops.

So the mistake wasn’t that I accidentally clicked the wrong box and wrote the wrong essay, just that I was stupid and didn’t check if A&S required SATIIs when A&L didn’t.

Well, I emailed them and they said they couldn’t change it (and that A&S sounded better for me, though of course it’s too late to take SATIIs). And I’m honestly not that bummed about it because it was my ultra-super-reach and I had about a one in a quadrillion chance of getting in, plus I’m not really sure I want to move all the way to Ithaca (I live in Oregon) for undergrad.

It’s okay, I’ll try there in four years for vet school. ;)

You’d fit right in. A good number of people from Oregon are undergrads.

Will they let you apply to Arts and Sciences as your alternate college? If you’re applying for A&L right now, but sent in the A&S essay, that could work.
