Accidentally sent low SAT subject score. Help!

I gave the SAT 2 on Dec 7th in 3 subjects -Math, Literature and Physics. I had enrolled in Physics, but it was a half-hearted attempt. I focused more on Math and Lit, but gave physics anyway.

Due to a lot of confusion (I rescheduled the test, the collegeboard site didn't show any score requests,) I was under the impression that I had not asked for the scores to be sent to any colleges.

The physics test was a disaster, as I pretty much expected; I got a 590 (the others went well - Math: 790, Lit: 710), but then I found out my tests had been sent to 2 colleges - Maryland College Park and UPenn!!

I know UMD doesn't consider SAT II, but I'm pretty worried about Penn.

I know I should try and communicate and explain my score, but I have no idea what to say. I fear coming across as irresponsible, or worse, as incompetent. I don't know what to do!! Help!

Honestly, the best thing you can do is email the school and tell them what happened. I bet you aren’t the first one to make a mistake.

Good luck!

for UPenn you need to send all scores anyway
you cant leave scores out so it doesn’t really matter?
if im not mistaken hmmm

I really wouldn’t call Penn asking that question. It will call into mind your morals since:

[Required Testing for Freshmen Applicants - Penn Admissions](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/freshman-admission/required-testing)

They will wonder why you’re trying to game the system.

Doesn’t that “all tests” only apply to the SAT I and ACT, because they only require any 2 SAT II subject tests? So if you took more than 2, shouldn’t that not be required?

No, it applies to everything. Hence the word “Tests”. They are all tests. SAT I, ACT, All Subject Tests.

You can call to confirm but I’m 99% certain that UPenn only considers the top 2 scores, regardless of how many you send.

thank you so much for all the replies. I guess at most I could just put a mail explaining why physics went that bad.

They probably can put two and together that you haven’t taken physics in a while. And again, they only take the top scores you send, I would try to let it go. This sort of thing can happen with perfectly strong students (I have a 2390 SAT single sitting and one of my SAT IIs was a 620 Math II, if it makes you feel any better)
