Accomplishments in middle/elementary school - should they be mentioned?

I need to know whether I should mention my graphic design job that I had in sixth to seventh grade in my application. I was a finalist in the district math contest as well (2 from my school), in sixth grade. Are these worth mentioning or will my mentioning them make me look like a fool?

misc.

I know this is silly, but is there anyway to let them know that I was asked to skip seventh grade but chose not and was nominated for the Jr.NYLC and the NYLC but could not go because of financial reasons?

Thanks!

(Also, where would I mention in the common app - or a should I write a personal statement about it - that I designed a logo for a company in Ohio and also designed the club t-shirt for two clubs at my high school - in addition to a class t-shirt?)

I think you should mention your first graphic design job, but everything else would kind of look stupid… If you haven’t done anything in high school that’s been comparable or better to that… you’re out of luck.

The NYLC doesn’t mean anything: colleges know that it’s a thing for kids with extra spending money.

If you haven’t done anything notable in high school and you need to go back to middle school, then perhaps you should really think about what you’ve done with 3 years of your life… You shouldn’t list it as an EC, but you can write about it in an essay.

I think colleges want you to limit your ECs to high school. They want ECs that define you. If your middle school ECs still define you, then similar and superior accomplishments should probably be more recent.

If the graphic design thing is something you still do you could mention you started in the sixth grade. Otherwise I wouldn’t mention any of it.

Nothing from elementary school should be mentioned unless you were a child star in movies, or Mozart. Otherwise, you could certainly put your first graphic design job as well as your more recent design experience and leave the rest of the kiddie stuff out.

As for the people who are shaming the OP… nobody said that he or she hadn’t achieved many great things in high school. This post implies nothing other than “what else should I include?” I’m sure that if someone was eager enough about their future to ask for help on CC, they’d be eager enough to have accomplished some things worth mentioning in high school.

I have a semi-related question:

Many people on CC have put the ABRSM gr 8 certification on their applications…but I passed the exam in 8th grade. Could I put this on my application?

Unfortunately, I only competed once afterwards and my teacher loosened up on me ;_; so I have nothing much greater to put for piano.
