Accounting at Pace vs Accounting at Baruch

Hi, I’m currently a Baruch student, struggling to keep my GPA above 3.5. The amount that the average student studies at Baruch is 8 hours per class…Baruch’s library is open 24 hours and plenty of students are there studying and even sleeping in the study rooms. That’s how hard Baruch’s accounting program is. The pressure is so high that the school is not short of cheating scandals. Adderall is also very common.
I cannot handle the pressure anymore and was considering transferring to Pace. I know it is also a target school for top firms in finance and accounting, but was wondering what are the upper level accounting classes like at Pace? Is it a “weed-out” program designed to flunk students out or is it manageable?
I’m also aware that the tuition is three times that of Baruch, but I’m planning on applying for the merit scholarships. Currently my GPA is a 3.7 at Baruch. Any feedback on the academic rigors of Pace’s accounting program? Thank you so much guys.

Hello-

My name is Jesenia and I am the Senior Admissions Counselor at Pace University. While the coursework for our Accounting program is rigorous and meant to be challenging to make sure you are prepared fully for the field, our students have lots of supports through the department and more specifically their faculty! With an average class size of 18 students, you really get to know who your faculty are- by the way 95% of the faculty have the highest degree achievable in their fields which is a great resource for you. Additionally, the faculty within the department have office hours as well an open door policy for students to speak with them about their courses and future plans to ensure success. Our Dean of the Lubin School of Business even meets with students! This one-on-one atmosphere allows students to be successful in the classroom while not forfeiting their extracurricular activities.

We offer robust scholarship for transfer students based on their GPA and credits completed, and these scholarships are awarded at the time of acceptance. If you have any additional questions feel free to contact me directly at jholguin@pace.edu.

Stick with Baruch.
