I have been admitted to 4 schools, 2 of which are University of Michigan and University of Illinois. Pros and cons of each are:

<illinois></illinois>

1 undergraduate accounting school according to US news (not that rankings mean a lot)

Already admitted to the business school
A little warmer than Michigan
Overall reputation is not as good as Michigan's
Affordable (relatively anyways) tuition is no longer a plus due to the recent raise

<michigan>
Overall a better school
Must apply to the Ross school of business at the end of freshman year, and if I don't get in--I'm screwed a big time. (I hear it's pretty competitive--any thoughts?)
Cold weather (I guess weather shouldn't be such a big factor though)</michigan>

I'm a out-of-state international student for both schools, if that must be considered.
Thank you in advance!

U of M. Go for U of M. My mom went there and she now works for Deloitte and Touche (one of the big accounting firms). She's been with them for quite a few years and is now fairly high up. I know they hire people from U of M every year. Plus, Michigan isn't that cold...though it has been snowing all day...

Debits and credits just aren't that different between colleges. I'd lean towards Illinois since you are already admitted to the business school. Illinois has an outstanding reputation for accounting.

fireflyscout>> Good point. I've heard that accounting is one of those majors that are heavily regulated, so that it doesnt really matter where you go--what matters is how you do.

michigan's Business school isn't that hard to get into soph year. About 46% of the ppl get in soph year. As long as you keep your GPA up, its not difficult.

tctennis>> If you don't mind asking, are you going to Ross? People on the UM board said that it's gonna be more competitive to get into Ross this year due to classroom limitations. Apparently Ross has stated that this year they will only accept 280 students.. I don't know how hard it will be to keep my GPA high enough to get in.
