help me get through this

I'm definitely going to major in Business but not sure of what program
but I've been thiinking about accounting for a long time
So far, I got in rutgers, UIUC, and UMich and am waiting for CMU. (I also applied to USC, ND, BC, UW-madison and few other schools)

I know, among these schools, UMich is the best b-school and then CMU, and then UIUC. (I know recruit at Umich and CMU is better than UIUC overall, but is it the same in accounting?)

But overall, CMU is the best, then UMich, then UIUC.

However, when it comes to accounting, UIUC is ranked #! and UMich and CMU doens't even offer accounting programs

So I'm really confused here...
Is UIUC's accounting program THAT good to sacrifice well rounded education I'll get in UMich and CMU? (like recruit, influence of the school particularly inaccounting field, and after grauduate, can I feel prestige for UUC accounting school?)

and is it hard to get over 3.6 gpa at UIUC? (I heard that only top 10% of UMich kids get gpa of 3.6+ which is a requirment to transfer to ross school of business)

I'm also worried about dropping accounting class if I go to UIUC, after giving up admissions to othe better schools b/c I heard 70~80% of ppl change their majors to something else becuase it's really tough. If this happens, I'll be really really screwed up because I will major in finance if not accounting(at leat this is what I'm thinking), which i want to study at CMU

So..what would you people do?

I really need someone's advices to get through this

Thanks for reading this thread I'll appreaciate any comment

I have pretty much the same problem, only I want to go to UIUC or UW-Madison and major in accounting. I'm not that big on rankings, but both are good in Accounting. Madison has some pretty good recruiting and has won various awards for its program.

Well...which school do you like overall the best?

I like CMU overall but UIUC's #1 accounting program attracts me

UIUC has the #1 ranking accounting program.

I'm not familiar with the exact curriculum of most of your schools, but since you mentioned that some of them do not offer accounting: if you want to go into public accounting, you now (essentially) need an undergrad degree or grad degree in accounting to take the CPA Exam and the Big 4 will not recruit you if you do not meet the requirements to sit for the exam.
