I currently have a 2.95 Accounting GPA. I really want to work for a big 4 firm. I initially got a C in Cost, and retook it and got a B. I have a C in Financial 2. Should I retake it to get my grade up to an A? The only reason I did so poorly in cost and intermediate 2 was because I had an internship and it took up a lot of my time. The next time I took cost, they scheduled me to work the every day of the week before the final, and I ended up getting a B on it. Would you guys recomend retaking intermediate 2 again?
When I was hiring for my CPA firm the minimum GPA to get an interview was 3.0 overall and 3.5 in accounting courses. Unless you need the income from the internship to stay in school you should end it now.
The minimum GPA for the Big Four firms often varies from college to college. I think you will have a difficult time getting an interview with your current GPA and history of re-taking courses.
Have you spoke to people in your college placement office? That would be my next step.
Also keep in mind that you need 150 credits to become a CPA ( a typical bachelors degree is 120 credits so many go on for a one year masters degree) and the Big 4 won’t hire a full time employee for assurance who does not have that coursework completed.
