Hi,

I am a transfer student admitted to the LAS as an Economics major. I will be starting my first semester at USC this fall and am looking to hear some insights from current students at USC.

First, I would like to explore the ways to satisfy accounting portion of CPA requirement without being an accounting major (I may or may not do CPA but my career plan would definitely benefit from accounting background) . I have looked into the accounting minor program but I am not sure if the minor will sufficiently prepare me for the CPA designation. Their required courses seem quite different from that of the accounting courses in major requirement. If that's the case, as a econ major, is it possible to take traditional accounting courses with accounting students? I hear that the accounting major runs on a quarter system so I am not sure how that's going to work.

Second, given that I can take traditional accounting courses, which USC courses are equivalent to following courses? I want to make sure I take these courses but USC course titles are worded a bit differently. I could cross reference by reading the course descriptions but your advice could save me some time in research.

Intermediate accounting
Advanced accounting
cost accounting
taxation
auditing

Thanks a lot!
