ive seen this talked about on this website, and various others. i believe that UMD is ranked better for marketing than it is for accoutning, from one report i read. my question is, which is more respected coming out of UMD, a degree in accoutning, or a degree in marketing? which would be better for a good job right away, and which would be better for grad school? ive seen mixed reviews for both programs, so i was wondering if anyone could give their opinions.

i heard that marketing jobs are more difficult to find. idk which major i want to go into yet, either, but my accounting professor said that he has people begging him to find future accountants to work for their firm.

sooo yeah...in the end, i'm not positive but i believe accounting/finance will get u more jobs/opportunities. then again i'm just a confused freshman.

i had a feeling it might have been accoutning...anyone else have opinions?

pj, i'd say go with what you're more interested in. accounting and marketing are VERY different fields, with extremely different coursework. i'm a marketing major, and i'd be bored out of my mind if i had to do accounting. you could go in majoring in general business, take intro accounting classes and the intro marketing class, and then decide what you want to end up majoring in.

i guess to answer your question directly, although i hate the way you worded it..... if all you're looking for is a good job, an accounting job is typically easier to find. but i really hope you're going to college for something more than a job.
