Hello. I've been wondering how accurate the bubble chart is.
I have a 3.6 UW and my best sitting is an 1830.
My high school doesn't administer weighted, but I figured my weighted to be 4.2/5
With the 4.2 and 1830, I fall well into the "blue" section of the bubble chart.
All other aspects of mine play to my favor (good ec's, high class rank etc etc.)
The only thing highly against me is I didn't apply until early Janurary.
Kinesiology major.

So I guess this is a chance me thread, but more or less I'd like to hear how accurate the bubble cart has been from anyone who has been accepted/rejected.

Your stats are pretty good/average for UP so I would say you have a good chance except for the fact that you didn’t apply until early January. They look at all the applications in by Nov 30 first before they consider you, so by then, there is a high chance that most of the spots will be filled. You would have a much, much better chance if you applied before priority, but since your stats aren’t that great and you applied late, I think your chances are on the lower end.

I forgot to add, I’m only kinda confident because I’m willing to do the summer session if I have to. I heard that pretty much automatic acceptance

The summer is a very good choice and it really does help you get into UP if you don’t make it for fall, but you estimate your weighted at 4.2. Just to clarify, how many honors/AP classes have you taken in high school

Over 20 honors courses, including 5 APs. My GPA is low due to a prolonged illness second semester junior year, but I didn’t mention that at all. If I get rejected, I might. I dunno. Also the same reason why I applied late. I was behind the 8 ball

I’d say you have a pretty good chance of getting in, with all of the honors/AP, with the high GPA, and with you willing to do summer. The bulk of their decision is GPA/SAT so the EC’s and high rank won’t help you out too much. I wish you the best of luck and I do think you have a chance.

That will help you even more because PSU figures out your GPA using their own system so everyone is equal and it could give you an even better chance

Penn State requests a school profile though so they can see what your school’s grading scale is so it could be possible that they adjusted your GPA for a different scale

the chart is good for visualizing their philosophy in GPA is 2/3 of their decision, SAT, provided class rank, etc, are the other 1/3. However, obviously, individual cases may vary.
