Accused of owning and using teacher's edition books

I have been falsely accused of owning and using teacher's edition books. The college does not have any assignments or tests on which I have supposedly used teacher's edition books.

Had I been using a teacher's edition book then more than likely an instructor or www.turnitin.com would have made this discovery, correct?

I am a student and there was a www.ratemyprofessors.com page with my name on it. Does any publishing company use www.ratemyprofessors.com to verify whether or not an individual is an instructor before releasing teacher's edition books and other course related materials?

Thank you.

No. ratemyprofessors would have no credibility in that regard.

Note that you can buy instructor’s editions almost anywhere that sells used books. Book dealers come by my office several times each semester to buy books that publishers have sent me. They sell those editions to anyone who pays.

OTOH, publishers do try to send samples only to real professors. They generally send books only to departmental addresses on campus. And a few have recently begun to verify that professors are who they claim to be. They look for pages on the school website and even contact department chairs. But they don’t use ratemyprofessors for this!
