Hello,

I am a rising senior was just wondering one what I should do to bring my 27 up to a 30 by the September ACT. I took it June 2013 and here are my scores:

C- 27
E- 26
M-28
R- 23
S-29
W- 7

My goal by September would be something like:

C - 30
E - 28
M - 32
R - 27
S - 31
W- 9

I currently have the Barrons ACT book, Big Red ACT book, And princeton review ACT practice questions.

Currently I try to dedicate 45min-1hour everyday to do one practice section and grade it. Then understand what and why I got those questions wrong.

Is there anything I should change?

Constantly remind yourself why you get your wrong answers wrong, and I typically do two sections a day, usually the same section to keep it simple. For example, one day I might do two English sections from two practice books, and I do two Science sections from the same two books. Try to improve each section one at a time.

I would really try to work on improving your English and Reading sections, since those seem to be your 2 lowest subscores. With my daughter, English and Reading were her lowest areas as well and the areas where she showed the most improvement. My daughter took a very intensive ACT Prep class, and on the first day of the class they took an actual ACT practice test (a real retired ACT test) and her English and Reading were low compared with Math and Science, but they really improved by the time she took her first actual ACT test. Outside of taking practice tests (especially from the Red Book because they are actual retired tests), my daughter really brushed up on basic grammar skills. She just googled it on the internet and found several sites that were very helpful. With Reading, she just practiced a lot of reading sections because the more you take the test, the better feel you get for how to go about reading the sections, how to answer the questions, etc. I would also do as you have said you were going to do - just practice a little bit each day, and hopefully that will allow you to improve your score and bring it to where you want it. Good luck!
