Hi, daughter got a 30 on ACT with writing the first time (31 E, 28 M, 35 R, 25 S). The state of Colorado has a mandated ACT in April, stupidly without writing. She got a 31 this time, with a 36 in English, her intended major. Bummer that certain schools will not even accept that! SAT is a different story, got a 1760 the first time, with a bad math score. Did much better in June, with a 2020. (710 W, 630 M and 680 R).
As she seems to do better in the ACT, question is, should she retake it with writing again, hoping to get that awesome English score and improve on the 30? Or is the difference between 30 and 31 pretty negligible? Looking at schools such as GWU, BU, BC, Northwestern (reach). thanks for any input

Probably. Most colleges need the writing score too. NU and BC are reaches with a 31 though.

If she got a 31 and 30 she should be able to consistently get around a 30.
