Retaking ACT...with writing or without?

Hey everyone!
I took the October ACT and I really messed up, but my ACT writing was a 36. I highly HIGHLY doubt that I can produce another 36 in writing (let alone any section…lol) I am studying all winter for the subjects and I don’t really know how to study for the writing section anyway, so I’m wondering whether it would be a good idea to simply take the ACT w/o writing. My top school (probably will change considering I’m a junior with no predicted GPA or ACT) is Northwestern and their site says they do not take writing into consideration. However, I also live in CA and will be applying to UC’s so I don’t know their policy on superscoring/the writing section in general. Can anyone give me advice/insight on this? I really don’t want to write again but honestly it’s because I’m worried I’ll mess up, considering that it is the fourth hour of testing (I was so exhausted), and it’ll look bad that I went down from a 36.
Thanks!!!

I also am 99% that it was luck or that I got a easy scorer or something so I’m pretty worried

BUMP

Couldn’t you take it without writing and have the newly test scores used with the previous writing score?

I’d love the answer to this question as well! My son made a 36 on the December writing but only had a 34 composite, so he’s taking the test again to try to get a 35. Obviously he would like to take it without the writing and just use the old writing score. Will a school that doesn’t superscore allow that?

Ok, count me in on wondering about this. My D got a 29 on Writing which I don’t really care about, but a lot of her schools require the ACT w/ Writing. If she re-takes it does she need to take w/ Writing again?

I am wondering the same myself. I made a 24 on writing, and after seeing what others scored, I really don’t want to mess with that… I definitely need to pull my MC up that came with that writing score though.

If I can’t use my old writing score I’ll need to change my February registration to include writing before the price increase Friday.
