ACT 33 retake?

I’m a senior and I just got my ACT score back.

33C 34E 34M 29R 35S

My composite score and scores for other sections are in the 25-50% range of my reaches, which is kinda low. Also, the reading is super low considering I consistently scored 30+ on practice tests.

Should I retake the test on October 24th? Here are the pros and cons:

Pros:
-Might improve my composite score
-Probably improve my reading score

Cons:
-It takes time away from my early application and school work
-Risky because I have to send the score report directly to my EA school–I don’t get to check my score and decide which score to use
-I might get lower score

But honestly, as an international applicant being the 50% isn’t quite good I guess… Should I retake?

If it takes a lot of time away from your essays and application then don’t do it.
Only do it if you feel confident that you can raise that 33 to a 34 (or improve reading) with minimal effort.

No ACT score is going to make up for poorly written and rushed essays.

Wow. A 33 is wonderful, I wouldn’t retake the test.

If your score is in the 25-50 %ile I would retake. If you have safeties that you’d be happy with I might pass.

Thank you for your replies!

I will try doing some practice tests and see what I get; if I could improve my score pretty easily I would consider retaking.

If your early school superscores the ACT, I would retake. The chances are that you will improve one or two scores and thereby increase your composite.
