I also got -x + 2
I only remember one answer with 18x at all and I’m pretty sure it was -17, not -15

What was the question with 18x-15

i also got x>-2 or something for an answer at one point (might have been x>=-2…don’t remember)

beavercreek, that was the inequality one and that is what I got also. I just completely blanked on the circle questions

The question for the 18x thing was really simple…which is why it’s weird that everyone’s getting different answers
It was just simplifying stuff

the first problem: angle was 55 degrees? the one with the different roads and how they had to go to lakecia’s house i got the longer route is 4 units (miles?) longer; it was a 5/12/13 triangle so 17-13 is 4

Got both those answers^

Yup, all right beavercreek. I would actually say that the math was the hardest section, other than a question or two in reading and science I thought the rest was really easy, especially the writing

can anyone remember the cos(2x) problem exactly? and explain how you got your answer?

i also got something like 18tan(75) over tan(25) or maybe 75 and 25 were flipped

they gave you cosx = 1/3 and gave you the formula:
(cosx)^2 = (1 + cos2x)/2

was there any answer with tan in it? like all of them were cos or something and none of them worked so tan was the right answer? or maybe I just completely screwed up on that one.

sorry, i did also get 18x-17
and i got -x+2 for absolute value

yeah i used the tan one for the problem with the ladder and the house…it gave you the hypotenuse (ladder) and you had to find the length from the base of the ladder to the house. the given angle was 50 or something.

the cos 2x thing was somethign like if cosx = -1/3 what does cos2x equal?

they gave you (cosx)^2 = (1+ cos2x) / 2

so square the -1/3. you get 1/9 = (1+ cos2x) /2

then you’re just isolating the cos2x and you get the fraction -7/11

okay cool I just wanted to make sure!! do you remember what number problem that was?

Lol, I just used my calculator for the cos2x one

I think that was somewhere in the 30’s

i think your simplification is wrong between

“so square the -1/3. you get 1/9 = (1+ cos2x) /2”

that line and your answer

You plug in the -1/3 on the left side and find cos2x, not cos^2x
