ACT has lost answer sheets THREE years in a row

Deciding between taking the ACT & SAT? You might want to watch this

Ive been back-and-forth with ACT to try to figure out what exactly happened. What I do know is Edison high school has a tracking number and proof that FedEx delivered the package to ACT on April 18. What I am trying to figure out from ACT is did FEDEX lose the answer sheets or did they, not sure.

Regardless of what happened they should have a back up plan until they are fully automated & this test becomes a computerized test.

My first thought was to have ACT require test centers to make copies of the answer sheets but there are some copying issues. Either way this has happened THREE years in a row: 54 lost in Long Island in 2016, 125 in LA in 2017 & 47 in NJ in 2018. An “I’m sorry” email & a refund doesn’t cut it anymore. Something needs to be done!

This occasionally happens with the SAT too:

I can only imagine the anger and disappointment for the students/families involved. I know I would be livid if it happened to my kids but human error is always going to be in place here, conceivably even when the test is more fully automated. Over 1.6 million students took the ACT last year so the number of exams lost (as mentioned above) is VERY, very small.

AP exams have been lost too.
