ACT October 26 FORM 73A READING Discussion

Please post READING questions here

This had the twins passage, the Ford passage, eel passage, etc…

There was a question in the Ford one that I was unsure about… for the answer, I put something about Ford “manufacturing automobiles on a large scale” or whatever.

Didn’t even get to finish the eels passage questions…guessed on like 5

The twins passage was just stupid. Whoever wrote that must have been on drugs.

nspire, yeah- the “petty” one? I said that too, but wasn’t sure!

Nspire I put the same thing. The passage implied that it was correct.

The twins one made no sense at first, the Ford was easy, but had little time to do the eels one. And I couldn’t find anything about clams while scanning.

Sweet!

For the eel passage… it like an “underwater field,” correct? Not the patches or something?

I had form 73B and thought everyone else would, too! I actually have already found of the 4 passages from that test… Can you guys find any of the passages from your test ( 73A)?

Clams were mentioned in the very last sentence of one of the last few paragraphs. I put something about the clams and the roots of the eel plants or something… pretty sure the answer wasn’t “at the surface,” but rather something to do with the roots.

Nspire, it said somewhere in (I think) the second paragraph that the eel plants resembled the plains of New Zealand (or some country).

They were called eel plants because of the way they moved underwater.

Don’t know about the clams.

The one with the answer choice “no negative effects”, I had that as my answer, but I was short on time so not quite sure of that.

For the one asking if the plants were impressive on low tide, I put “less impressive”

Hey Nspire. You must be right because I tend to scan the body of the passage, not the end. I ended up guessing the third choice because it sounded the best. It had something to do with roots and rhizomes.

I thought they were eel plants because of their slimy surface!

The curve better be really generous. I really just want a 30+ but I feel like I missed around 5-6 because of time

@Riadon: Sounds spot-on. I remember that as well.
Low tide one I had no clue about… haha. I put “more impressive,” which now sounds illogical.

@Btrail: Ahhh, gotcha. That sounds like right (the roots/rhizomes answer, that is).

Anyone know about the “tiny air bubbles” one? I thought that’s how it spread or something…

@Love

I thought so too, and somewhere I think it was stated the plants were slimy and covered with algae, but it flat out stated that it was their movement that gave them their name.

darn… I thought I did well on reading but I guess not really

@Nspire

I put the answer choice involving air bubbles because I saw it mentioned in the passage. I don’t remember the question, though.

That reading section was on steroids with god like powers. Honestly, nothing like the practice tests. I thought The Real ACT was supposed to resemble the real one.

I thought I remember seeing it in the passage, too.

I thought I put the “slimy and covered with whatever” answer as well… was that right?
