I got 1870 on my SAT and 31 on ACT. Which should I focus on?
Also, if my score is on the low end of my dream school, but I have a lot of extracurriculars to back it up, do I have a shot?

ACT.
Probably not, but it doesn’t hurt to try (if you have a good backup plan).
Thanks. Do you know if it’s possible to send in SAT2 scores without sending in the reasoning?
I am in the same boat with almost the same scores 1900 on the SAT and 31 on the ACT. I feel like I am going to stick with the ACT. How about you?
A good scale that i know the princeton review uses (that is if you trust the PR) is that every point on the ACT corresponds to 60 on the SAT, so that a 2400 is a 36, a 2340 is a 35, and so on. Your ACT is equivalent to a 2100 SAT on this scale, so I suggest you stick with the ACT.
ACT, definitely. And EC’s could possibly give you a boost–it depends how much on the low end your scores are. Try the ACT again; even if your EC’s could make up for your scores, it’s always better to have the best scores possible. Good luck
Everyone’s telling me ACT, so that’s the path I’m taking now. But I’m worrying about SAT2. Don’t schools want to see that? The problem is is that if I send in SAT2 scores, some schools will require me to send in all my SAT scores, including my SAT1 (right?).
A few schools want absolutely everything - Yale and Penn do - but most everywhere else is fine with submitting the ACT plus subject tests and omitting the reasoning test. Check the websites for the schools you’re interested in, and call them if there’s any question or if it seems like they’re saying they’d want the SAT reasoning test in your circumstance. We had a couple of schools where the website seemed to be saying they’d require it, but on the phone admissions said no, ACT plus subject tests is fine. You wil, however, get a bunch of warning messages on the SAT site when you request to send only the subject tests. But if the school has said it’s fine, plow right on past them.
