Hey guys,

Here's my problem: I've taken the SAT several times and got a 2260 (Superscore 2280) this past June, but I would still like to try to improve this score this fall before applying to colleges, especially before the ED deadline. This means that I would have to take the SAT in October to do so.
HOWEVER, I checked the website of several colleges and a few of them, including my ED school, require either the SAT II or ACT in addition to the SAT I. I've taken the ACT and the highest score I got was a 31 (not very competitive), and I don't think I'm too good at the ACT either (mainly b/c of the reading and science- too little time :/). So in order to fulfill the requirements of the colleges I'm applying to, I should probably take either the SAT II or the ACT again before the ED deadline in November. I don't want to take the SAT II in October because, like I said, I want to take the SAT I again then.
So what should I do? Should I take the SAT II at all? If so, when? Or should I take the ACT again? Or are there any other options?
Thanks for reading and helping!

Mind you, most schools still accept November test scores for SAT and SAT II. I’m not sure about the ACT test dates though, since it isn’t available where I live and therefore I’m not very familiar with it. I suggest you read the school websites and find out the last possible test dates for ED.

If your school accepts November SAT scores, that means one possible course of action is that you could take the SAT in Oct, and the SAT II in Nov.

If you have taken SAT several times and got 2280 superscore already, I would suggest you to take the SAT2 in October. You may not even want to take SAT1 in November as it is not worth to get a few 10 points higher and show how score obsessive you are. It does not look good to the admission office if you take any test multiple times.

You have a third option. Submit all the scores you have now and call it good.

Schools know kids do better on some tests at some times. Just because they require the ACT in liu of SATII doesnt meant they wont look at the SAT scores.

The real question is how well will you do on SAT II ? This is a subject test, so its best timed after you take the corresponding class. Its possible you could go through that work and not end up with a better score than you have now. Its also possible you would get a great SATII score and improve your resume. Whats the ED school ?
