ACT or SATs?

I was wondering if Duke truly prefered one over the other, or if most people submitted one or the other?

I have a 34 ACT, and a 2200 SAT, 800 Math IIC, 680 Spanish, 660 physics.

Wondering what should be sent in, they already have my ACT... shoudl I sent in the SATs too ( i retook in oct, could change)

Yes, I would. The more good scores, the better! :D

wolffy~

My son was accepted last year having submitted only the ACT (34). In your case, I would be tempted to submit only the ACT score because of the two lower SAT II scores. ~berurah

Yes, that is my temptation as well...

I retake SAT spanish and Lit next week, but havent even cracked the bindings of my study books, I have been busy will school work and apps... so if for some reason I get above 700 on those, I think ill send them in (not likely, but hey, ya never know)

Wollfy..
Your ACT is good enough. It is easy to get swamped at this time in a senior year. Wait till you see your new SAT 2s. My son was still FAXing in stuff in February...a couple of late recognitions. I really don't think your SATs are going to hurt a thing though so I wouldn't even consider them a detraction. That Math score is super duper and "showy" and there is probably a known curve on the Physics that makes it a pretty good score....did you look that up? Your 680 in Spanish will probably let you vault past one semester of language in colleges that require proficiency proof. So you are doing mega-fine. Spend your energy on your essay polishing so you are one of those top students who is not waitlisted at highly selective schools and keep your transcript and grades up this semester--they count when it comes down to the wire in the winter. Don't focus on testing anymore. best wishes

I 100% agree with Faline that testing more isn't really necessary. I'd go ahead and just send them all honestly...do it now. I sent my ACT only, and then when it came to placement in classes figured I should go ahead and send them my SAT 2's and whatnot, although I'm not 100% sure they need a tangible copy of your scores for placement. Your scores are all strong, so I wouldn't worry too much.

you've already run this race. move on. My S signed up for the foreign language SATII in June of his senior year to use for college placement but he had so many other distractions that we did something really decadent. He just didn't go to the exam and we blew the money. He had not cracked the review book by the end of May, and we felt he had put out max effort and just needed to let something go. You might be up to it next May or June though...he had another competition he was distracted by and let it slide. Good Luck!!
