I have already taken the ACT and the SAT Subject Tests. I got a 33 on the ACT w/ writing in one sitting and I took the subject tests (Math II, Chem, Bio) a while back. 750's.

I have never taken the actual SAT...Should I? I have some early applications going in, and being an idiot, I didn't sign up for the ACT this Saturday, but I am signed up for the SAT in October. Should I

1) Try to increase my SAT II scores
2) Get a whole new score in the form of the actual SAT

I know how to prep for SAT. I did before, but I could never take it on the test dates it was administered on (problems with scheduling because of band...). So consider that I will prep hard for either test I take.

I'm applying through Questbridge, so the October SAT is the last thing I can submit for my "EA" colleges. And I'm applying to places like MIT, Stanford, and the like...So obviously my scores need to be good.

From what I’ve seen on CC, most people are more than happy with a 750+ on the SAT IIs, so I think you’re probably good as far as your test scores are concerned. I think that if you want to retake anything, just retake your SAT IIs and the ACT since you can obviously do well on them. The SAT is a different beast, and if you’ve never taken it before, you might not do very well, especially if you don’t have sufficient time to prepare.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about your test scores, though. Sure, they can be better, but if you’re applying through Questbridge, I doubt they will be what gets you accepted/rejected. If you have great ECs, community service, etc, then I think you’re set. That being said, higher test scores can never hurt :).

Well, I just want to make sure you know that if you do apply to Stanford’s Restrictive Early Action, you can’t apply to MIT’s Early Action.

Your SATIIs are perfectly fine. They are not going to make your application stand out, but it does meet what the top colleges are looking for.

Your ACTs are fine also. A 33 is a great score. If you really wanted to retake a test, this one should be it. Try to get a 34 or a 35.

As LBlock said, the SAT is different than the ACT. Some people may find the SAT much easier (never really know one, but I’m sure they exist), but the (overwhelming) majority say that the ACT is easier. Take it if you want, but you should definitely prep a lot if you want to score high (a 2190+ would improve your 33 ACT, btw).
