ACT Prep Online worth it?

So i’m a junior in hs and i’ll be taking the ACT March 21st. I was looking for programs to help me prepare for the test and came across the official ACT online prep and was wondering if anyone had any experiences with it. If so, did it help? And is it worth the 49.95$ price tag? Thanks!

My personal opinion: no. Just buy the official Red Book (they have a new '16-'17 edition), the Math ACT Ultimate Guide, and maybe the Black Book if you’re shooting for a perfect or thereabouts.

If you have money to throw away, go for it. It’s just like a less streamlined, more expensive Khan Academy.

Just remember, at the end of the day, ACT is a business. They aren’t going to reveal hidden tricks to cutting through the BS in the Science section, or eliminating wrong answers in the Reading section, or doing the problem backwards in the Math section, or what have you. Neither are they invested in getting you the score you want: they want you to come back and take it again. Call me cynical, but there’s my assertion.

They will just give you practice questions and some convenient little progress markers. A free app, too. Cool! …But unless you’re planning to do ACT prep on your phone, it is useless.

Ever wonder why they flash the words “Register for the ACT” so frequently? They don’t flash “Up your score 160+ guaranteed with this package!” because they can’t guarantee that. Their product isn’t engineered to even attempt to guarantee it.

Just my 2 cents.

There’s no ACT on the 21st of march.

In Ohio, idk about other states, they are offering a free act to all public high school students on march 21st.

@mohammadmohd18 Did you buy the online prep?

@annamom Yes. The practice questions aren’t as numerous as I would have liked them to be, and there is little practice for timing because your answers get reviewed after every chunk.

It is, however, directly from ACT, which is nice. They don’t ever discuss strategy, for obvious reasons, which unfortunately means that if you’re just relying on this one program, you will be missing out.

It depends on how you use it.
