So I recently took the October ACT. I got my scores back and I scored in the 30s for everything EXCEPT reading. I want to go to the University of Michigan for cell biology and I’m wondering if this 28 is going to hurt my chances of getting in. Composite I have a 32 and for Science, Math, and STEM I have a 35, 31, and 33 respectively. If I’m not going into an English major, should I be too worried?
Hi, your composite matters the most when applying to colleges! If you think there is no possible chance that you can get your reading score up, try to get your other sections improved!!! Good luck!
@jjgrace4 - A little known fact is that many colleges only use your composite, math, and English scores. While I have no official information from the university, if you look up the common data set for the University of Michigan, they only list composite, math, and English scores, so I think that your reading score may not matter.
This is bad news for my daughter since she got a 36 in reading, but scored under a 30 in math.
