please discuss the strategy to approach the reading passage
because im always out of time

They say just skim the whole passage really quickly to get the basic idea because you can refer back when doing the questions.
BUT unfortunately that strategy doesn't work for me.. so I just read very thoroughly but as fast as I can and simply do the questions..yup. I've tried many ways but I guess this "normal strategy" works best for me.

I think it depends on how well you naturally read. When I took the ACT + prc exams, I always had about 10 minutes left. If you're running out of time though, you probably just need to skim more and not focus too much on a single passage. A lot of people find the prose piece a lot more difficult than the others, so if you can identify that, skip it and work on it last.

is skimming and taking notes on the side a good strategy, because that is what some books recommend

maybe I don't know how to skim, but when I skim I get even more confused.
I don't know about the reading section, but I think taking notes on the side works well in the science section.

for most of the passages i read it only once but at a moderate speed so i can absorb all the info. When i do that, the questions seem easy because its easier to eliminate wrong answers right off the bat. i find the fiction passage kinda difficult. i always have to go back to the passage.
i probably suggest writing one line summaries for each paragraph until u get the hang of what's going on. for other topics such as humanities, history, sociology i simply READ EVERYTHING so that when it comes to process of elimnation, i may not immediately know the answer, but i recognize which choices were mentioned.

^ agree.
read quickly but carefully! EVERY WORD MATTERS. i say that again, EVERY WORD MATTERS!!!!! one little word can throw you off from authors point of view, events, etc. do lots of practice. time yourself 9min for every passage.

good luck!

Good luck.

well, ideally, each reading passage should not take more than 8-9 minutes to complete (in order for you to finish).

What I do is I read the passage very carefully and take about 4 minutes to do that, and spend the remaining 4-5 minutes answering questions.

If you read carefully, the generalization questions you should get automatically, as well as most of the inference questions.

The detail questions also should not take too long to get considering they give you the line numbers...
