Hey,
I know ACT is a requirement at most east coast schools, but is it advantagous at all to take both the ACT and SATs?

Just don't want to waste my time prepping if it isn't very neccessary...

The ACT is not required at any school that I am aware of. Many schools require the ACT OR the SAT. Many schools also require either the ACT with writing OR SAT IIs. The advantage to taking the ACT with writing is that it will also cover you for the SAT IIs as well. If you are satisfied with your ACT score, there is no reason to take the SAT. However, since it is a different test, some people find they do better on it than on the ACT. You might want to take it to see how you will do. Then you can decide if you want to send your scores or not. If you are not interested in taking the SAT, there really is no reason that you should (unless you are interested in applying to one of the few schools that only accept the SAT. Princeton is one of these.)
