<p>Are the Ivy schools expecting you to take both the SAT and ACT and do well on both of them? Do you think taking both of them improves your application? </p>
<p>(i always see stats like, 90% of freshman with 600+ verbal accepted, 90% of freshmand with 650+ math accepted, and 90% of freshman with 24+ on ACT got accepted.)</p>
<p>No, most students take the SAT becuase that's what the ivies prefer, while some take both, and some do just take the ACT, but no, you're not expected to take both, and most people don't.</p>
<p>Except for Princeton, the ivies readily accept either and none requires or cares whether you submit both; in fact at Brown, Yale, and Penn, you can submit the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT II's. Princeton (a principal creator of the College Board that administers the SAT) still has a rule that it will take the ACT only if the other colleges you are applying to accept only the ACT (to my knowledge there is only one such college -- Brigham Young) and thus the SAT should be considered necessary there.</p>
<p>in the end it really doesn't matter what you take as long you score high enough to be competitive in the admissions pool...</p>
