ACT results weird.....

okay so i got my act results back today.

a composite of 28

w/ sub scores

english (26)
Math (26)
Reading (31)
science(29)

I guess i should be happy but i'm also dissappointed. I did so bad in english. I had an average english act score of 30 for everytime i took the act. I would have made a 30 if i had gotten the same english score as last time.

here's my pre college act score

English(32)
Math(27)
Reading(23)
Science(23)

for a composite of 26?

What will happen if i send them both scores, the precollege scores and the post college scores?

Does this look bad? Maybe i messed up something on the scantron.

I got mine too. Low English scores but since I am international they'll hopefully look into my TOEFL score which is 287/300. 26 and 28 is not bad. 85-90th percentile.

I personally was never raised to test take. The idea of timed >multiple choice test taking< was completely unknown to me. European system is very different. My academic record shows my full potential and, although I worry a lot about it, I am positive that AdComs will take the whole picture in consideration.

Your different English scores show that it is just a TEST that depends on whether you had enough sleep the night before the test, whether you had enough coffee that morning or you just got in fight with your gfriend/bfriend... relative relative! Does not say anything about you!

it's just really weird because i have always scored 30+ on the english section.... oh well....

Though what HelenofTroy argues is true, I would say that such a disparity would be a cause for concern...

...in the realm of the SAT.

I do not know how drastic a difference between a 28 and a 30 is on the ACT. If the difference is a question of scoring one or two questions incorrectly, then it is not really an issue; however, colleges will be concerned with the fact that your score did not increase. How much this will affect your application is dependent on each of the respective colleges you are applying to, but it does not mean that you will definitely be rejected; you may possess other factors that clearly outweigh the lower ACT score.

I would notice the lower score and question the downward trend since, usually, transfer applicants have significant upward trends in grades and scores. Perhaps this is why I am not an adcom.

don't worry about it, i think that with the ACT, they don't usually even look at the lower score. most schools want to give you the benefit of the doubt. hence the reason you have the option of not even reporting the lower score to the schools you apply to.

well my act scored did go up. It went from a 26 to a 28.
